Situation

CarusoUSA Logistics, a full-service asset-based 3PL, has become a trailblazer in the supply chain management industry. With a rich four-generation history, Caruso Logistics has evolved from a small-scale distribution business specializing in fresh produce into a dynamic logistics powerhouse. Today, the company offers comprehensive supply chain optimization services to retailers, wholesalers, growers/shippers, manufacturers, and truck brokers across 12 states in the USA. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Caruso Logistics operates state-of-the-art food-grade distribution centers in Cincinnati and Ephrata, with satellite locations in Richmond and Indianapolis. This strategic network allows it to provide customized programs across multiple regions, catering to the evolving needs of its diverse clientele. Caruso’s journey from a humble distribution business to a leader in the industry highlights its adaptability and innovative approach to meeting the challenges of the ever-changing supply chain landscape.

Struggles and Pains

While Caruso Logistics expanded its operations and client base across the states through innovative approaches, its in-house team struggled to adapt to the fast-paced growth. It faced significant challenges in optimizing its HR processes and identity provisioning between Paycom and AD (Active Directory). Manual employee lifecycle management procedures led to inefficiencies in hiring, role changes, terminations, and profile updates. The utilization of disparate systems hindered consistent HR profiles and timely updates to roles and privileges. This lack of automation also impeded the allocation of licenses and access, impacting employee collaboration. While onboarding delays affected the first-day experience for new employees, the inefficient offboarding processes also raised concerns regarding data security and reputation risks. These pain points highlighted the need for a comprehensive solution that could streamline employee lifecycle management and identity provisioning, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Resolution

Recognizing the urgency to address these challenges, Caruso Logistics turned to RoboMQ, a leading provider of data and API integration solutions.
