Situation

Most people feel ambivalent about medicines and hospitals. They hate medicines but do not hesitate to pop one even for a slight headache. The healthcare industry has been promoted in such a way that people believe taking medicines can treat anything, from vitamin deficiency to fatal diseases. However, there are only some who understand that the nature of all diseases is not the same; While some diseases can be cured with medicine, genetic disorders require attention from scientists proficient in gene technology. That is the kind of technology Prime Medicine develops.

Created in the laboratory of Dr. David. R. Liu., Prime Medicine is a biotechnology company dedicated to revolutionizing genetic therapies with its state-of-the-art gene editing technology. Its ground-breaking gene editing technique, Prime Editing offers patients a single-dose, curative therapy that can address various genetic disorders and diseases effectively.

Struggles and Pains

Prime Medicine was founded in 2019 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and since then has been committed to transforming the way medicines are used to cure, prevent and slow down genetic diseases. To accomplish this mission, the company requires a group of scientifically curious individuals willing to put tremendous effort into making Prime Editing effective for all. Also, since the data Prime Medicine deals with is sensitive, there was a need for a stringent security system to prevent any data breach that can hamper the progress.

However, Prime Medicine’s existing system for employee lifecycle management and identity provisioning was proving to be a hindrance in facilitating timely information to the scientists for the inventions. Its IT team was manually updating employee lifecycle events like onboarding, offboarding, and role changes from ADP to AD (Active Directory) which was a time-consuming process. In addition, a proper role-based access control system was missing, making the company prone to compliance and data breach risks.

Prime Medicine realized that it needed a solution that could sync employee profile events between its HR system and AD in near real-time; the kind of automation Hire2Retire was created to provide.

Resolution

Hire2retire enabled Prime Medicine to manage employee identities in near real-time while reducing information security risks. With ADP to AD integration solution, Prime Medicine can now manage custom roles and provisions for its staff so that they can keep their focus on new innovations

RoboMQ’s integration solution helped Prime Medicine:

Save time and resources by automating employee lifecycle updates in AD which was previously done by costly Sysadmins.

Secure the company’s inventions with a stringent role-based access control system.

Prevent data breaches by ensuring terminated employees do not walk away while still having access to the system.

Keep its GAL updated and consistent.
