Situation

The engines powering the cars and trucks that take us where we need to go continue to become more advanced and more complicated. But without the right spark plug, none of them would be able to properly ignite. When it comes to spark plugs, one name stands out from the competition: NGK Spark Plugs. Since 1936, NGK has manufactured and supplied spark plugs for virtually every automotive, motorcycle, and marine engine application, and produces around a billion spark plugs every year. The NGK name is synonymous with a drive to push the automotive industry forward.

Struggles and Pains

Managing employee onboarding, offboarding and role changes across multiple locations in 5 different states created a challenging situation for NGK’s USA division. The company found it difficult to manually keep their HR data updated in Microsoft AD and to manage role-based access and privileges in critical applications and systems. These challenges created security risks for the company upon employee terminations and led NGK USA to search out a solution with the same quality and efficiency as the spark plugs they make.

Resolution

NGK USA’s search brought them to RoboMQ and led to the implementation of Hire2Retire as a fully automated employee lifecycle management and identity provisioning system. Hire2Retire provided NGK USA with end-to-end data integration between ADP and AD. As a no-code, full-service product it allowed NGK USA to efficiently manage the employee identities in their system. In addition, Hire2Retire provided role-based access control that could be automatically removed upon employee terminations, eliminating the security risks that worried NGK USA and allowing them to focus on what they do best: making world-class spark plugs.
