About Gateway Fiber

Gateway Fiber is a fiber internet company that gives people high-speed internet across the US. They’ve grown fast by buying other companies and bringing them all together. They merged Gateway, Van Rack, and Quick Com into one place.

When they got bigger, keeping track of who could access what became a real pain. The IT team was always busy handling tickets, creating new accounts, and handling access changes. Employees all over the place, lots of different systems, it was just too much to do all manually.

The Problem: Manual Tickets Were Slowing Everything Down

Everything was done through tickets. HR would tell IT someone new was starting or someone was leaving, and IT had to do it all manually. Create the account, set up permissions, update their profile, remove access when they left. It was always manual.

The worst part was when people got promoted or switched departments. Their info didn’t automatically update from Paycom to Active Directory. IT had to go in and change everything themselves. Every single time. And since it was all manual, mistakes happened.

Then Gateway Fiber merged their Microsoft systems after all those acquisitions. Managing who could access what during all that became really difficult for IT.

So, Gateway Fiber needed:

They also wanted to stop creating user profiles manually when new people joined.

The Solution: Automating Access and Role Changes

Gateway Fiber implemented Hire2Retire to handle employee lifecycle tasks automatically and take work off the IT team. They used Paycom as their main system. Hire2Retire connected to it and could create accounts, update roles, and manage access in Active Directory.

Here’s what happened:

The system could also handle someone leaving immediately their IT access got removed right away even if payroll wasn’t updated yet.

What Changed

Now instead of tickets and manual work, they have a real process for access changes. New people get set up automatically. When someone changes roles or departments, it just happens, no more manually fixing profiles. Less repetitive stuff for IT to do, and everyone’s access stays consistent across systems.

The IT team doesn’t have to copy user profiles anymore. Access just gets assigned based on job, department, and who they report to. As Gateway Fiber keeps growing and consolidating, automation takes care of delays. The team can handle employee access without having to add more people to IT.

Why This Matters

Gateway Fiber is growing fast. If they kept doing everything manually through tickets, both HR and IT would be overloaded. Now they can bring people on, move them between roles, and process departures without a ton of manual work. That matters a lot when they’re going through changes, moving systems around, and reorganizing departments. Access updates need to happen quickly.

With Hire2Retire, Gateway Fiber now has a simple, reliable way to manage who can access what. They can keep growing without adding more manual work for the IT team. Even when systems change or new companies are added, managing access becomes much easier.
