Operational Environment

Nusano operates in a healthcare environment where timing and coordination are critical to daily work. The company develops and produces medical radioisotopes used in diagnosing and treating diseases such as cancer. Many of these isotopes have short half-lives, which means they must be produced and used within limited time windows, often within hours.

Teams across research, engineering, and operations rely on internal systems to manage production workflows, track materials, and maintain required records. These records are important not just for operations, but also for compliance and audit readiness.

If access to these systems is delayed, it can slow down lab work, delay coordination between teams, and interrupt scheduled processes. In lab and production areas, employees cannot begin assigned work until system access is in place, as many processes depend on system-based instructions and tracking.

About Nusano

Nusano is a US-based medical technology company focused on improving the availability of medical radioisotopes. The company is building production capabilities to support a broader range of isotopes used in diagnostic imaging and targeted therapies. These isotopes are used in procedures such as PET and SPECT imaging, where accurate detection plays an important role in treatment planning. Nusano’s operations bring together:

Given the nature of this work, access to systems must be controlled, timely, and aligned with employee roles. System access and activity tracking are also important for internal audits and regulatory checks, where accurate records must be maintained.

With around 170 employees, Nusano continues to scale its operations while maintaining strict process control.

Key Challenges Faced

Nusano used ADP to manage employee data and Hybrid Active Directory for identity and access. However, these systems were not connected. This created a gap between HR updates and access provisioning.

When a new employee joined, IT had to manually create accounts, configure email, and assign access based on role and team. This process often depended on internal communication and manual tracking.

As a result, access was not always ready at the start of the employee’s first working day. In environments like lab operations or production, even short delays could affect scheduled work. Role changes added another layer of effort. When employees moved between teams, access updates were handled manually. This sometimes led to delays in assigning the correct access or leaving older access active longer than required.

Offboarding required careful coordination. Accounts needed to be disabled and access removed across systems. Since this was manual, there was a risk of delays or missed steps. Overall, the process was consistent but slow, and it relied heavily on IT involvement for every change.

Automated Solution with Hire2Retire

To address these challenges, Nusano implemented Hire2Retire to connect ADP with its Hybrid Active Directory environment. With this setup, employee lifecycle changes in ADP now directly trigger access actions.

This removed the need for manual coordination between HR and IT. Access provisioning is now driven by employee data, ensuring that updates are consistent and completed on time without follow-ups.

Business Impact

With automated access in place, Nusano has removed delays that were affecting day-to-day operations. Teams working in research, production, and operations can now rely on systems being ready when needed. This helps avoid interruptions in scheduled work and keeps processes moving as planned.

It also ensures that only the right employees have access to specific systems at any given time, which is important in controlled work environments. The improvement supports better control over system usage and access tracking, which is important for audit and compliance requirements.

IT teams now spend less time on manual tasks and more time supporting system stability and future growth. By connecting ADP with Hybrid Active Directory using Hire2Retire, Nusano now has a setup where access is handled in a consistent and timely manner, aligned with how the business operates.
