Altus Consulting is an information technology consulting company headquartered in Northern Virginia. Founded in 2002, the company was created to provide customers with highly qualified technical consultants who can solve complex technical and operational problems.

Its consultants are trusted to support demanding outsourced IT requirements where delays or skill gaps can directly affect business operations. That same standard of speed and reliability was also needed inside the company’s own employee lifecycle processes.
Altus Consulting had built a strong business by helping customers solve difficult IT challenges, but internal identity processes still depended on manual effort across teams.
When a new employee joined, HR records were updated in iSolved and IT teams had to prepare accounts before the start date. New user accounts were typically created one week before start dates, which required close coordination and careful timing.
The company also followed a first_lastname email format, but some employees used preferred names instead of legal first names. This created extra review steps during account creation.
As employees changed roles, departments, managers, or contract assignments, those updates needed to stay aligned inside Azure AD. Planned resignations and urgent terminations also required different workflows, including fast access removal, mailbox handling, email forwarding, and internal notifications.
For a growing company with more than 100 employees, these tasks were essential but time-consuming. Altus needed a more efficient and repeatable way to manage onboarding, employee changes, and offboarding without losing control of the process.
Altus consulting selected RoboMQ Hire2Retire to automate identity lifecycle workflows between iSolved and Azure AD.
New hire accounts were prepared before start dates using employee data from iSolved, with Altus email naming rules and preferred name logic applied automatically. Employee changes such as manager, department, title, and contract updates flowed into identity records with less manual effort.
The platform also supported two offboarding paths: planned exits processed at 5 PM Eastern on the final workday, and urgent terminations triggered immediately when needed. Manager mailboxes could be converted to shared mailboxes, while standard users had email forwarding and notification steps handled through the workflow.
The rollout started in supervised testing mode, with employee status checks every 15 minutes and existing group-based licensing left in place.
As a result, Altus reduced manual administrative work, improved onboarding readiness, responded faster to offboarding events, and built a scalable identity process for future growth.
By connecting iSolved with Azure AD through Hire2Retire, Altus replaced manual identity administration with a repeatable lifecycle model built for consistency and speed.
