Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) play a crucial role in transforming lives by evaluating the potential suitability of donor organs and coordinating organ recovery and transport to the transplant center. These non-profit agencies are responsible for saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donations.
The life of an organ donor is filled with significant responsibilities, involving people in the state of Nevada and thousands of potential transplant recipients across the country.
Nevada Donor Network (NVDN) has embarked on a remarkable journey from manual processes to automation. Founded in 1968 and based in Las Vegas, NVDN is a non-profit organ procurement organization dedicated to saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donations.
Beyond their core functions, NVDN provides education to hospital staff and community partners on the referral and donation process. They also offer a strong network of support for the courageous donor families who save lives through the gift of donation.
NVDN’s intended clients include patients waiting for transplants, healthcare providers, and the community at large, aiming to promote awareness and participation in organ donation.
NVDN stands out as one of only 56 OPOs in the United States serving over three million people in Nevada and 110,000 potential transplant recipients nationwide. Collaborating with hospital staff and community partners.
NVDN promotes research and provides a robust support network to courageous donor families who have turned loss into hope.
However, NVDN’s growth led to the revelation of a common issue: manual processes that had been neglected for some time. For every new hire, including temporary workers and volunteers involved in collaborative efforts, the IT team manually created their accounts within Active Directory (AD). This process resulted in delays, particularly in time-sensitive healthcare cases where prompt access is crucial.
During this phase, the absence of a JML automation process became apparent, emphasizing the need for a solution. While managing onboarding was vital during growth, handling off-boarding and terminations, especially when sensitive patient information is involved also proved to be a critical task.
In search of a solution, NVDN visited RoboMQ’s website and clicked on the “Talk to an integration specialist” button. This pivotal decision marked the beginning of a transformative journey for NVDN.
Zero-Touch Provisioning: When a new employee is added to the HR system, Hire2Retire automatically triggers a chain of events. The ITSM system creates a user profile and generates a service ticket to provision all necessary IT assets, while the HR data is used to automatically create the user’s account in Active Directory and assign them to the correct groups and permissions.
Faster Day-One Readiness: The new employee’s devices, software, and access are ready on their first day, eliminating delays and freeing up IT staff from manual, repetitive setup tasks.
Automatic De-provisioning: When an employee’s termination is processed in the HR system, Hire2Retire instantly triggers a de-provisioning workflow. The ITSM system automatically generates a ticket to reclaim IT assets, while the AD account is either deactivated or deleted.
Mitigated Security Risks: This synchronized process ensures that access is revoked immediately upon departure, preventing former employees from accessing sensitive company data and reducing the risk of a security breach.
NVDN has accomplished its key goal using Hire2Retire’s workforce lifecycle management capabilities.
